" CM67 "

Le CM67 de Wunder Audio est un microphone à condensateur large membrane, multi-polaire utilisant une topologie "tube et transfo" classique ayant pour but la recréation de l'ancien Neumann U67.

La K67, qui depuis 1960 est devenu la capsule la plus commune et la plus copiée dans le monde, utilise une plaque arrière en 2 parties permettant aux membranes d'être ajusté individuellement de manière à ce qu'elles aient la même réponse.

Le tube utilisé dans le micro est, comme dans le U67 original, une Telefunken EF86 "vintage", une pentode cablée dans son circuit comme une triode. Cette lampe utilise une tension de filament de 6.3V et est connecté au circuit imprimé à travers une douille en Teflon.

Le transfo du CM67 est somme toute unique. Il utilise un réseau de rétroaction élaboré connu sous le nom de "bobinage tertiaire" qui génère une rétroaction négative à travers la capsule vers le tube créant une atténuation dans le haut du spectre qui compense la surbrillance naturelle de la capsule K67.

Un transfo très particulier est nécéssaire pour accomplir cette tache correctement avec comme résultat un son impressionant. Quelques recréations de U67 actuelles tentent d'utiliser un expédient pour simuler le son de la version originale mais, la plupart de ces bidouilles qui attenuent les hautes fréquences, ne font qu'ammener à des résultats très douteux.

Le CM67 est bien sûr parfait pour les voix quand un son trés "moelleux" est désiré. Le CM67 est également un superbe micro généraliste car il fonctionne particulièrement bien dans des situations de prise de proximité. Il est excellent pour les batteries (grosse caisse, caisse claire, ambiances, pièce) et devant un ampli de guitare ou basse.

Mis au point sans compromis, le nouveau bloc d'alimentation pour micro à tube de Wunder Audio est le résultat d'une totale liberté de création et d'ingénierie. Le résultat est une tension complètement "propre" alimentant le micro sans interferences radio.

The Wunder Audio CM67 is a multipattern large-diaphragm condenser microphone with a classic tube-and-transformer topology aimed to be a recreation of the old Neumann U67.

The K67 capsule, which since 1960 has become the most common and most copied condenser capsule in the world, utilizes a two-piece backplate, allowing the diaphragms to be tuned individually and then matched for equivalent response.

The tube is a vintage Telefunken EF86, a pentode wired into this circuit as a triode. It uses a 6.3V filament voltage, and is wired to the PCB via a Teflon socket.

The transformer in the CM67 is somewhat unique. It makes use of an elaborate feedback network known as a tertiary winding, which creates negative feedback through the capsule to the tube for its HF de-emphasis. It creates a roll-off in the HF response in order to compensate for the natural HF peak due to the original design of the K67 capsule.

It takes a very special transformer to accomplish this task while simultaneously achieving such an impressive sound. Some U67 recreations offer a quick fix to simulate the sound of the original, but most of the modifications that attenuate the top end achieve a less than desirable result. This is not exactly a good trade-off.

The CM67 is perfect for vocals where a smoother sound is desired as the 67s are prized for their “warmth.” The CM67 is also a terrific all-purpose microphone, as it works exceedingly well in a close-mic situation. The CM67 is excellent for drums (kick, snare, overheads, room) and guitar amp mics. Because it has a very nice top and bottom, and being very natural in the way it brings out the best from any source, the CM67 is a serious pro studio workhorse.
